This is a 4 year apprenticeship resulting in a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering. The first year will be spent at Midland Group Training Services (MGTS) in Coventry learning core practical and theoretical elements of the role. For the following years, apprentices will attend MGTS on a day release basis to complete the necessary educational requirements for the programme.
Skills you'll develop include:
- Wiring and Testing Programmable Controller Based Systems
- Wiring and Testing Electrical Equipment and Circuits
- Maintaining Electrical Equipment/Systems
- Maintaining Mechanical Devices and Equipment
- Maintaining Fluid Power Systems
- Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques
Responsibilities and Duties will Include:
- Reading and understanding wiring diagrams
- Carrying out electrical testing
- Fault finding
- Working efficiently to manufacturing time scales
- Working to electrical engineering drawings
- Using of hand held tools
- Conforming at all times to health & safety practice
- Work with MGTS external assessor to produce workplace assessment training plans
- Attend lectures, practicals and visits as per training provider learning plan
Entry Requirements
We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths and A*-C / 9-4 for English, Science and two other subjects.
Training to be Provided
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
Things to Consider
Once the apprentice returns from MGTS Technical Centre depending on age there may be some shift work involved in their company hours. Must be over 18 at the start date and be happy to stay in funded student accommodation for the first year or be prepared to travel each day.
Future prospects
Upon successful completion of the four year programme, an individual assessment will be carried out by R S Components to determine whether a full time position will be offered.
