Through this Apprenticeship you will train as an Apprentice Toolmaker, where you will undertake a structured training program of academic study and workshop work.
The successful individual will gain first-hand experience of, but not limited to the following:
- Setting and operation of conventional centre lathes
- Milling and grinding
- Operation of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)
- Basic fitting techniques
- Benchwork and associated techniques
- Checking and inspection of tools made in house and externally
- Understanding both in house and customer supplied engineering drawings
Entry Requirements
We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths and A*-C / 9-4 for English, Science and two other subjects.
Training to be Provided
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
Things to Consider
Ideally, candidate to live within a 30 minute commute of the factory in Redditch: B98 8JY.
The first year training will be held at MGTS centre in Redditch, when back on site after the first year the hours will be:
Monday – Thursday: 8.00am – 4.30pm
Friday: 8.00am – 3.00pm
All days include a 15-minute breakfast break and a 30-minute lunch break.
Future prospects
Following successful completion of your Apprenticeship, you will progress into a full-time employed position within the business. Further training and development opportunities will be available to successful individuals.
