Could you join our Board of Trustees and help to shape the future of tomorrow’s engineers?

MGTS is a registered charity that has been providing dedicated training to the Engineering sector for more than 50 years.

Recognised nationally as learning and development experts, we work in partnership with a wide range of companies from SMEs to global operators, all within a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, food & drink and logistics. We have proudly built long-standing relationships with many household brands including Amtico, Carlsberg Marston’s, Dennis Eagle, Morrisons, and Warburtons.

We aim to be a national centre of excellence for education, training, development and assessment, supporting both young people and adults in the development of competences associated with engineering.

WHY BECOME AN MGTS TRUSTEE?

Getting involved as a Charity Trustee is a great way to put your professional skills to use, but can also be a fantastic opportunity to learn new things. You’ll get great insight into what’s involved in the management of a charity and work with a team of like-minded people, adding value to the success of MGTS. We are fortunate enough to have an active Board of Trustees who have a real enthusiasm for our work and are able to make the necessary time commitment to the role.

Whether you are an experienced trustee or wanting to take your first step at board level, we want to hear from you. Black, Asian and ethnic minority groups are currently under-represented on the board, so we particularly encourage applications from members of these communities to diversify our board membership and bring a different voice to an existing talented board. We would also welcome applications from younger members.

If you have proven knowledge in one or more of the following areas, even better:

  • Education
  • Manufacturing and/or Engineering
  • People and Organisational Development
  • Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

Successful candidates will need strategic vision, a strong understanding of the role of Charity Trustee and independent judgement. You may find it helpful to view the Charity Commission guidance on being a Trustee.

TIME COMMITMENT

You will be asked to attend a maximum of four meetings per annum at our Coventry based head office; typical meeting duration is 2 hours. There will be appropriate time before and between meetings to read papers and stay abreast of relevant development.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Trustee positions are not remunerated, but reasonable travel expenses will be considered for reimbursement.
