The apprentice will be trained on the practical and theoretical aspects of maintaining processing and packaging equipment in our Production Department. When back in company apprentice will be on Panama shift pattern which consists of 12 hour shifts including 1 hour break on a 2 week rotating basis. Day shift only. 6:45am to 6:45pm.

W1. Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

W2. Wednesday & Thursday

Working alongside our trained and experienced engineers, this apprentice will be required to carry out the following duties:

  • Follow all the Company's health & safety rules and guidelines at all times
  • Respond efficiently to breakdowns
  • Ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum
  • Ensure repairs are cost effective
  • Carry out preventative maintenance when required
  • Service machinery and equipment
  • Support machine installations
  • Support the Engineering Team with any other ad-hoc duties and projects

Training will be provided on:

  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical and process control systems
  • PLC software applications
  • Electro-mechanical design and solutions
  • Electrical wiring testing and installations
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems

Initial training will be full time at MGTS from September 2024 to July 2025. You will then be based at the factory in Northampton.

In addition to on-the-job training, apprentices will be required to attend college 1 day/week and they will be required to complement their training with home studying.

Entry Requirements

We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths and A*-C / 9-4 for English, Science and two other subjects.

Training to be Provided

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
  • Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering
