MGTS is an employer led and membership based organisation supporting both young people and adults in the development of competencies associated with engineering. We provide education, training and assessment to industry workforce and have operated in Coventry since 1965.
Coventry based, MGTS have expanded to become a nationally recognised organisation providing thousands of apprenticeships and qualifications. In addition to the Coventry centre, MGTS have centres in Redditch and at Reaseheath College in the north west of the country. The Reaseheath centre is part of an industrial partnership with the UK dairy industry.
Their specialism is to define core engineering qualifications as 'bronze' thereby providing the SME and blue-chip sectors with technical training solutions set at the 'silver', 'gold' and 'platinum' levels of performance.
MGTS acts as a technical translator; listening to employers' current and future needs and aligning these with specialist education, training and assessment programmes.
The Coventry centre focuses on the needs of the Coventry and Warwickshire engineering SME sector; MGTS is the lead provider in this sector. Specialising in engineering and process maintenance, MGTS have been working in partnership with JLR to develop and deliver training programmes to JLR staff and JLR supply chain companies. More recently, plans have been made to offer the supply chain development programme to the wider automotive SME supply sector.
As a process engineering, training and assessment specialist, MGTS are the national lead for both apprentice and engineer development for Britvic, McCain, Heineken, Molson Coors, Mondelez / Jacob Douwe Egberts, Arla, Dairy Crest, Muller-Wiseman, First Milk, Nestle and Princes Foods.
MGTS provide commercial training solutions to over 30 multi-site national companies. Many of which send their apprentices and engineers to the Coventry centre using local hotels as a residential base.
