Jacqui Corkery and Lin Atkins are on hand to help our apprentices cope with and overcome problems that arise during their apprenticeship, encouraging learners to develop self-confidence and independence, and to reach their potential.
Jacqui (pictured left) comments: “It’s really important that we have a team that our learners can always turn to, whatever issues they are facing, and know that they will be listened to and supported. I find it hugely satisfying being able to help people resolve their problems and witness positive outcomes.
“Part of this role also involves broadening learner knowledge on subject areas such as Employment Law and the Equality Act, Safeguarding, Prevent Duty and British Values.
“Having been part of the Learner Support Team for many years it is constantly rewarding to see our learners develop from apprentices to fully qualified engineers.”
Lin joined the team in 2015 and tells us: “I enjoy the contact with the apprentices, enabling me to help them resolve issues and achieve the end goal of successfully completing their apprenticeship.
“On top of the Learner Support role I also help to improve the English skills of all our apprentices, for use in the world of work. This includes delivering weekly spelling tests, report and presentation skills and all other aspects of English including grammar and punctuation. It gives me great satisfaction to see the improvements in apprentices’ skills.”
Outside of work Jacqui loves City breaks and going to the theatre. She also loves to travel to far-flung destinations and enjoys outdoor activities. Clearly the global pandemic has curtailed the travel but it didn’t stop Jacqui climbing Mount Snowdon late last year!
Lin is an avid supporter of Coventry City Football Club, enjoys walking, entering competitions and spending time with her granddaughters.
