MGTS has an excellent technical centre, equippped to provide practical skills training or re-training for adults, as well as providing modern apprenticeships for young people. MGTS has achieved CoVE status, which means that we are considered a Centre of Excellence in multi-skilled management of industrial electrical systems, meeting both local and national skill needs.
The Technical Centre is approved by EAL Awards Ltd and recommended by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. These hallmarks of quality demonstrate that training and development is of the highest standard.
A wide range of engineering and new technology skills training is offered in the Technical Centre.
Our range consists of:Skill Assessment and Trade Testing
Adults can upgrade and update their technical skills in a friendly, professional environment. Multi-skill versatility programmes are available.
Apprentice and Youth Training Programmes
We assist companies to recruit and train in engineering, electrical and clerical occupations and offer Foundation and Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programmes to enable young people gain a head start in their chosen career.
NVQ Assessment and Verification Service
We have licensed Assessors and Verifiers for the competence based NVQ?s from major Awarding Bodies such as EAL, City & Guilds and OCR.
Professional Engineering Development Service (IMechE and IEE schemes)
We advise and assist companies with the development of their staff to become engineers with Chartered status by:
- Designing & monitoring training programmes which follow IMechE and IEE schemes
- Providing a Principal Industrial Mentoring Service
- Covering all administrative arrangements with the chosen professional institution
- Developing Training Programmes to suit appropriate requirements for the professional development scheme.
