MGTS APPRENTICESHIPS

 

 

In April 2009 over 200 University of Coventry engineering undergraduates completed a 24 hour skills development programme at MGTS. This year’s programme follows on from last year’s success story.

 

The students, from the University of Coventry, are undergraduates who are studying a range of engineering degrees in motorsport, aerospace, virtual engineering and mechanical engineering disciplines.

 

Paul Green, Course Tutor in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at Coventry University said he had had very good feedback from students who had taken part so far and was planning to run the course with MGTS of Gulson Road, Stoke, again early on in the next academic year. Mr Green said “The students have been very happy with what they have seen and learned and really appreciate some practical input. I was also impressed with the speed in which the programme was set up. It has gone very well so far”.

 

Steve Palmer, MGTS Technical Centre Manager, praised his delivery team who have been prepared to work flexible hours to train the students during students’ lecture free time and at the end of the University day. Steve said that his team have done a remarkable job delivering a 24 hour project based learning package to each student.

 

Lee Weatherly, MGTS CEO, supports Steve’s views and added that the University market is an important part of MGTS future plans. In addition to Coventry University, in the last twelve months MGTS has built partnerships and provided technician development programmes to the Universities of Warwick, Oxford and Cambridge.
