OUTSTANDING SUCCESS RATE FOR MGTS
Lee Weatherly, CEO, reported that since June 2008, MGTS pass rates for the NEBOSH General Certificate have been exceptional. Out of the 78 exams undertaken by 26 students 92% have achieved full honours first time round. Over 62% have achieved credits or distinctions. This is a fantastic achievement!
The results from the December 2009 exams have indicated that the national average success rate is 78% whilst MGTS achieved a 97% success rate.
Geoff Rushton, manager in this area, said the success of this is due to the time and effort lead tutor, Lee Hamilton, has spent reorganising and developing the training and tutorials to go into the NEBOSH programme. The learning outcomes for each delivery session clearly match those laid down through the NEBOSH syllabus. Various practicals and practice questions are discussed throughout the sessions clearly preparing the candidates for exam conditions. Group participation is encouraged bringing a range of practical health and safety experiences which others can relate to and discuss. In addition, the training is conducted in a light hearted manner to encourage a conducive environment to learning. Each delegate is reassured and encouraged of their abilities to succeed in achieving the objectives through the course.
Lee Hamilton advised that the course tutor team has been hand picked and comprises of an excellent range of skills, knowledge and experience to complement learning. The training is also conducted and carried out in an excellent learning environment.
The training is completed over 12 weeks, one day per week, giving delegates time to reflect on their learning and gain important feedback to questions they have within the course. Regular progress checks have been designed within the training to determine delegate’s progress at specific stages of the course. This helps tutors to mentor and coach delegates through any problematic areas of concern through the course.
